When a taxi to Waterloo makes sense
South Western Railway trains run from Raynes Park into Waterloo, and for a daily commute that is hard to beat. But plenty of journeys don't fit the timetable. If you are catching a train from Waterloo to Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth or Exeter with holiday luggage, carrying it through Raynes Park station and onto a busy train is hard work. If you are returning late from a show or a long trip, the last train may already have gone. And when there are engineering works or strikes on the line, a car is often the most reliable way to get there.
The route to Waterloo
The drive heads north-east through Wimbledon or Earlsfield and Wandsworth, then along the river through Vauxhall towards the South Bank. Traffic on the approach to Waterloo can be heavy in the evening peak, and events on the South Bank add to it. Your driver will choose the route on the day.
Some routes into central London cross the Congestion Charge zone. Ask us when you book how any charge is handled for your journey.
Collecting you from Waterloo
Waterloo is a huge station with several exits. When you book a pickup, we agree a meeting point with you so you are not wandering around looking for the car. Give us your train and its arrival time, and if it is running late, call us and we will adjust. We are especially busy on Friday and Sunday evenings, when people come back from weekends away on the South Western lines, so booking ahead is a good idea.
Late nights and early starts
We run 24 hours a day. If you have been to a concert, the theatre or a late dinner near the South Bank and missed the last train home to Raynes Park, a pre-booked car from Waterloo saves waiting around. At the other end of the day, if you need to be at Waterloo for a very early departure, we can collect you before the first train runs.
Groups, families and regular trips
A group of friends heading into town together can share our 6 and 7 seater minibuses. If you need regular trips at the same time each day, for example a school journey, see our school run taxi service.
Engineering works and weekend closures
The lines through Raynes Park and Wimbledon sometimes close at weekends and on bank holidays for engineering work, with rail replacement buses running instead. If you have a long-distance train to catch from Waterloo, a bus replacement service can add a lot of time and uncertainty. Check the South Western Railway website before you travel, and if the line is closed, book a car to Waterloo so you still make your connection. We are often busier on those weekends, so book as early as you can.
Other London terminals
We also run to London Bridge, Victoria and Paddington. We collect from Merton Park, South Wimbledon and the other areas we cover.
