The drive from Raynes Park to Luton
Luton Airport is north of London, just off the M1. From Raynes Park the usual route is the M25 anticlockwise, past Heathrow and round the west of London, then north on the M1 to junction 10 for the airport. Some drivers go through London via the North Circular when the M25 is congested. Either way, the whole trip stays on main roads.
The western M25 between the M4 and the M40 is one of the busiest stretches of road in the country, so we look at traffic before we set your pickup time. On a clear run the journey takes around an hour, and we allow more during peak periods.
A simpler alternative to the train
Reaching Luton by rail from Raynes Park means travelling into central London, crossing to a Thameslink or Midland Main Line service, and then taking the short shuttle link from Luton Airport Parkway station up to the terminal. It works, but it involves several changes. A taxi collects you at home and drops you outside the terminal, which is especially useful with children, heavy cases or an early flight.
At the airport
Luton has a single passenger terminal. For departures your driver drops you at the forecourt, and Luton charges a fee for dropping off close to the terminal, so ask us how this appears on your fare. For arrivals, we track your flight and meet you as arranged. With meet and greet, your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. Otherwise, your driver calls you when you are ready and tells you where to find the car.
The right vehicle for your trip
Many Luton flights are short-haul holiday routes, and holiday luggage adds up quickly. Our 6 seater taxi is a popular choice for families, and a 7 seater taxi takes larger groups. A saloon or estate is ideal for one to three people. Child seats are available on request.
Best times to travel to Luton
Many flights from Luton leave very early in the morning, when the M25 is at its quietest. A pickup in the middle of the night may feel early, but the roads are clear and the journey is usually at the quicker end of our estimate. Midweek afternoon departures are often the slowest, because the western M25 is busy from the early afternoon. Tell us your flight time and we will suggest a pickup time that leaves plenty of room.
Other ways we can help
If you are flying from a different airport, see our Stansted transfers or Heathrow transfers. For rail journeys north, our Euston Station taxi is a quicker trip than Luton. We collect across the local area, including Lower Morden, Worcester Park and South Wimbledon.
