Getting across London to Stansted
Stansted sits in Essex, north-east of London, so every journey from Raynes Park has to get around or across the capital. There are two main choices. The first is the M25, heading clockwise round the southern and eastern side of London to the M11, which leads straight to the airport. The second goes through London, using the South and North Circular roads before joining the M11. Which one is faster depends on the time of day and any incidents, and your driver will decide on the day.
Because this is a longer trip, the difference between a quiet road and a busy one can be significant. For most flights we suggest leaving at least three hours before departure. For a very early flight, a pickup in the middle of the night usually gives a smooth run with little traffic.
Why people choose a car for Stansted
By public transport, Raynes Park to Stansted usually means a train into Waterloo, a Tube across London, and then the Stansted Express from Liverpool Street. With suitcases, children or an early start, that is a lot of changes. Many of Stansted's budget flights leave at dawn, before the first trains would get you there in time. A pre-booked taxi removes those problems: the car comes to your door at the time you choose and drops you outside the terminal.
Stansted terminal and arrivals
Stansted has a single terminal, which keeps things simple. For departures your driver drops you at the forecourt. For arrivals we track your flight and your driver meets you as arranged, either in the arrivals hall with a name board or at the pickup area after a phone call. Stansted has a charge for dropping off at the terminal, so ask us how it is handled when you book.
Sharing the trip with a group
On a long journey, sharing a car can make a lot of sense. Our 6 seater taxi and 7 seater taxi take groups of friends or larger families in one vehicle with room for luggage. If you are a couple or travelling alone, a saloon or estate is a comfortable choice for the drive.
A tip for Stansted departures
Stansted is a large, busy airport, and security queues can be long during school holidays and early mornings. Check your airline's recommended arrival time, and add a little extra when you tell us your flight time. We will then work backwards to set a pickup time that gets you there comfortably.
Other airports and stations
If Stansted doesn't suit your plans, Luton Airport is a similar distance to the north, and London City Airport is much closer for short-haul business flights. Travelling north by rail instead? Our King's Cross Station taxi runs every day. We collect from Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon and all the neighbourhoods on our areas we cover page.
