Why you need to tell us about your pet
Not every driver can take every animal, for example because of allergies, and some cars suit a large dog better than others. That is why we ask you to mention your pet when you book. Let us know what kind of animal it is, roughly how big, and whether it will travel in a carrier or crate. With that information we can send the right driver and the right car, and there are no awkward moments at the kerb.
Assistance dogs are different. Licensed private hire drivers are required by law to carry assistance dogs at no extra charge, unless they hold a medical exemption certificate. You can still mention your assistance dog when you book so the driver expects it.
Common reasons people book
Most of our pet journeys are short and practical. Vet appointments are the most common, especially when an animal is unwell or recovering from surgery and can't walk far. People also book us to take pets to kennels or catteries before a holiday, to collect a new puppy or rescue dog, to visit the groomer, or to go to the station for a trip with the dog. Some customers take their dogs to open spaces such as Wimbledon Common or Morden Hall Park when they can't walk there.
Tips for a smooth journey
- Cats, rabbits and other small animals should travel in a secure carrier.
- Dogs should be on a lead, or in a crate if they are nervous travellers.
- Bring a blanket or towel if your dog is likely to be wet or muddy, to protect the seat.
- For a long trip, give your pet a chance to go to the toilet before the car arrives.
- If your pet gets anxious in cars, tell the driver. A calm, quiet ride helps.
Bigger dogs and more than one pet
If you have a large dog, or you are travelling with the family as well as the pet, an estate or our 6 seater taxi gives more space. Tell us who is travelling and we will suggest the right size of car.
Pets on longer journeys
We can also take pets further afield, for example to a train at Paddington for a West Country holiday with the dog. Please check the rules of your train operator or airline before you travel, because they set their own policies on pets.
Pets and airport trips
If your pet is travelling abroad with you, the arrangements depend on your airline and destination. Many airlines only carry pets in the hold or as cargo, and some pet journeys go through a separate animal reception facility rather than the passenger terminal. Please check the details with your airline or pet shipper, then tell us exactly where you need to go.
Where we collect from
We collect from Raynes Park and across the nearby areas, including Morden, Mitcham and Wimbledon. If you have a question about travelling with an unusual pet, please contact us before you book.
