The route from Raynes Park to Gatwick
Gatwick lies south of London, so the drive from Raynes Park takes you out through Merton and Sutton rather than into town. Drivers usually head south on the A24 or the A217 towards the M25, then join the M23, which runs straight to the airport. It is a road-based journey from start to finish, which is why many local travellers prefer a car to changing trains at Clapham Junction or Victoria with suitcases.
The M25 is the part most likely to slow down. Around the Reigate junction it can queue in the morning and late afternoon, and roadworks do appear from time to time. We watch the traffic before your pickup and allow extra time when the motorway is busy.
North Terminal or South Terminal?
Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, linked by a free shuttle train that runs every few minutes. Airlines are split between them, and some move terminals from season to season, so please check your booking confirmation and tell us which terminal you need. If you are unsure, send us your flight number and we will check it for you.
Being dropped at the wrong terminal is not a disaster, because the shuttle takes only a couple of minutes, but getting it right from the start is less stress when you are carrying bags and watching the clock.
Coming home through Gatwick
For arrivals we monitor your flight, so a delayed landing does not leave you without a car. If you choose meet and greet, your driver waits in the arrivals area of your terminal with your name on a board. Otherwise, your driver will call once you are through baggage reclaim and direct you to the pickup point.
Gatwick is busy with holiday flights, and many arrive late in the evening or early in the morning. We run 24 hours a day, so a flight landing at midnight is no different to one landing at lunchtime.
Cars for Gatwick trips
Holiday luggage takes space. A family of four with two large cases each will usually be more comfortable in our 6 seater taxi than a saloon. Groups travelling together, or families with pushchairs and car seats, can book the 7 seater taxi. Couples and solo travellers are well served by a saloon or estate. Child seats are available on request.
Parking versus a taxi
Some Gatwick travellers compare the cost of a taxi with parking at the airport. For a long holiday, parking charges add up, and you still have to drive yourself there and back after a long flight. A pre-booked taxi takes you door to terminal, and your driver is waiting when you land. Ask us for a fixed quote and compare it with the parking for your dates.
Nearby areas we collect from
The route south is especially straightforward from Worcester Park and Lower Morden, as well as from Raynes Park itself. If you are flying from a different airport, see our Heathrow transfers, or if you are travelling on by train, our Victoria Station taxi page covers the Gatwick Express terminus.
